Synthetic Organic Chemical Mfrs Assoc

The first to be held March 20 - 21, 2008 at SOCMA Headquarters
in Washington, D.C.

The second to be held April 29 – May 1 at the DePaul University,
O’Hare campus in Chicago, IL

  • Gain the know-how to take your chemicals out of the black box
  • Learn how to use the same models and methods that the US EPA employs to do chemical risk screening and prioritization
  • Learn how to conduct screening-level hazard, exposure and risk characterizations of your chemicals in the absence of test data
  • Hands-on, interactive training sessions included
  • Presenters include invited US EPA staff from the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics (OPPT)
  • This workshop fulfills the training requirement for Sustainable Futurestm participant graduation
  • These workshops are open to the public for a fee

Sustainable Futurestm is a voluntary US EPA initiative that aims to promote the incorporation of Pollution Prevention (P2) methods into chemical stewardship. During the hands-on workshop, you'll learn to use a variety of sophisticated computer based models in order to assess both hazard and exposure components of risk assessment with methods relating to both human health and the environment.

Upon completion of the workshop you will understand how EPA evaluates both new and existing chemicals in the absence of data and be able to evaluate in the same manner. You will be able to anticipate regulatory action and prioritize chemicals based on potential hazard and risk. In addition, companies participating in the Sustainable Futurestm initiative can qualify for regulatory relief and gain the ability to go to manufacture at day 45 for qualifying new chemicals. This Sustainable Futurestm workshop is the first step in successfully participating in this innovative program.

Space is limited for both workshops. . For more information and to register for this workshop please use the links provided above or email CERM.
